Regina Weinert
Regina Weinert was Ikerbasque Senior Research Fellow
during 2009/2010 at the University of the Basque Country in
Vitoria-Gasteiz. She came from the University of Sheffield, where
she was Reader in Germanic Linguistics. She takes a usage-based
and functional approach to grammar and specialises in
spoken language syntax and discourse-pragmatics.
She also maintains an interest in formulaic language.
Her research on native spoken language fed into her Ikerbasque
project into the Spoken English of Advanced Foreign Language
Learners with L1 Basque/Spanish.
Regina Weinert is currently Professor in General and
Applied Linguistics at Northumbria University, UK.
