Averil Ester Bolster
Averil comes from Ireland and is a PhD student in the Language Acquisition in Multilingual Settings (LAMS) programme at the University of the Basque Country. She is supervised by Professor María del Pilar García Mayo. Her thesis title is, “Exploring teacher attitudes and influences in the use (or not) of student collaboration in university courses in English”.Averil holds a BSc and post-graduate diplomas from University College Cork (UCC) in Ireland, the International Diploma in Language Teaching Management (IDLTM) and an MA in ELT and Materials Development from Leeds Beckett University. She has been a teacher in the ELT field since 1995 and worked in a variety of contexts (general English, ESP, management, EAP and curriculum development) in Portugal, Turkey, Lithuania, The UAE, China, Vietnam, Macau and Finland. She is a permanent university teacher of English at the University of Turku in Finland.
