Janire Guerrero Gómez

Janire Guerrero Gómez holds a PhD within the programme ‘Language Acquisition in Multilingual Settings’ from the EHU. Her dissertation, supervised by Prof. María del Pilar García Mayo and Prof. David Lasagabaster Herrarte and granted with an FPI (Formación del Personal Investigador) scholarship from the EHU, was awarded the “cum laude” mention and has been proposed for the Outstanding PhD dissertation award. In addition, she holds a BA in English Studies from the EHU and she completed a MA programme in Language Acquisition in Multilingual Settings at the same university. Her main research interests lie in the use of video models prior to collaborative tasks with young learners in EFL settings. Besides that, she also examines the impact of task-related factors, such as task modality and repetition, on language learning opportunities and learners’ affective variables (motivation, anxiety and willingness to communicate). She has presented her work at several international conferences (AAAL, ELLRA, TBLT…) and has published several papers in international journals, including International Review of Applied Linguistics and Vigo International Journal of Applied Linguistics. In 2023, Janire carried out an international research stay at Universidade Nova (Lisbon), under the supervision of Dr. Sandie Mourão. She currently works at the National University of Distance Education (UNED) as a teacher in the degree of English Studies and offering EFL and ICT courses for seniors in the same institution.
