María Basterrechea
María Basterrechea is Associate Professor at the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU. Her current teaching includes undergraduate courses in Spoken English, English Language as well as a postgraduate course in the Master’s program in Language Acquisition in Multilingual Settings (LAMS; http://www.lams.ehu.es/p149-1000/es). She holds an M.A. in Linguistics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In 2012 she defended her Ph.D. on “Interaction and Focus on Form in a Dictogloss Task in Secondary Education: A Comparative Study of CLIL and Mainstream Learner Production”, supervised by Professor María del Pilar García Mayo. She received a Distinction Award (Premio Extraordinario de Doctorado) for her dissertation. She is a member of the AESLA Scientific Committee.

Her primary research interests focus on the study of Language-related episodes, Focus on form and interaction, bilingual / multilingual education and CLIL.
